Ferguson, who runs for Etonic Shoes, questioned the length of the course, saying that the last two-tenths are probably longer than they should be.
John McCarthy, a race organizer, said the distance has been checked repeatedly, and while it may be off a small amount, he said it was not more than a matter of a few feet.
‘The course was measured five or six times, and it is within a few feet of 10-K,” said Mr. McCarthy.
Ferguson took a wrong left-turn by the Aileen Plant near the start of the race, but quickly recovered.
Mr. McCarthy said the race record may have fallen if Ferguson had not gotten lost.
