In most cases, however, few problems have resulted due to the fact that agents provide valuable services to the buyer as well as the seller, and in most cases, all parties are satisfied with the results of the transactions. Agents providing fair and ethical service are striving to keep the public—particularly buyers and sellers—better informed about the legalities of agency relationship.
“A buyer’s agent will advise buyers as to the offering price, compensation for defects found during inspections and other related matters that are in the best interest of the buyer,” said Butch Zindel, Broker of the Buyer’s Agency located in Washington.
“In addition to first-time buyers, out-of-town buyers should consider using a buyer’s agent. They may not understand the local market or unique legal procedures required by a certain community and therefore may need a local advocate,” said Mr. Zindel.
A variety of events and seminars are being conducted in the area during American Home Week, which begins May 3.
The Piedmont Association of Realtors is sponsoring a public home buying-selling seminar, “Step by Step.”
The seminar, to be held at Piedmont Technical School on U.S. 15 in Culpeper, will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 7. The topic for the first evening session will be “Am I Able to Buy A House?”
The second session of the seminar will be on May 14 and will deal with the “Legal Process for Buying and Selling.” The third session, to be held on May 21, will be “Getting the Right Price for Your Home.”
Each session will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
During American Home Week, May 3-9, the Piedmont Association of Realtors is also holding open houses throughout Rappahannock. Participating homes will offer the public chances to win cash prizes for viewing homes. A drawing May 9 will determine the lucky winners. First place is $150, second $75, and third $50. To be eligible, winners must visit five homes.
