Horses winning both the Virginia Gold Cup and the Maryland Hunt Cup 1. Billy Barton - In 1926 was the only horse to win the Gold Cup and the Hunt Cup in the same year on consecutive weekends. 2. Lancrel - Gold Cup in 1954 and Hunt Cup in 1955. 3. Tong - Gold Cup in 1980 and Hunt Cup in 1982 (both ridden by Tumey McKnight). 4. Sugar Bee - Gold Cup in 1986 and Hunt Cup in 1987 (both ridden by Charlie Fenwick). The only Virginia horse to accomplish this feat.
