Sweet Adelines to perform

WVFD meeting planned
Members of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 at the fire hall. All current and past members are invited to attend.
Auction at FHVFD
The Hint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold an auction on Saturday, May 21 (time to be announced at a later date) at the fire hall. Anyone wishing to make donations or need items picked up should call 675-3067, 675-3286 or any fire department member.
Organizational meeting
An organizational meeting for a new daytime Extension Homemakers Club will be held at the Extension Office at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. If you are interested in joining a daytime club, come and learn what Extension Homemakers Clubs are all about. Plan to attend the morning program on “Seafood Cookery” at 10 a.m. too.
Contestants sought
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is seeking young ladies for carnival queen. The carnival will be held May 27-30. Anyone wishing to be a contestant should call 987-8124 and leave a message, unveiled.
Mayday festival
Spring Mountain School, a Waldorf-styled school in Washington, Va. will host a Mayday Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. The festival will include a traditional Maypole celebration with live music, crafts and food. Games for children of all ages will be offered including a treasure hunt, tug-of-war, sack races, jump roping and more. The festival will be held on the grounds of the school which is located in the Old School House on Mt. Salem Ave. in the town of Washington. Admission is free, and all are invited to attend. Bloodmobile coming
The Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers Clubs will sponsor a Red Cross Bloodmobile from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 at the Washington fire hall. For further information call the Extension Office, 675-3619.

The Rappahannock High Class of 1982 is preparing for its 10-year reunion tentatively planned for Sept. 12 and 13. Brochures will be sent out and any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Flea market
The Betty Newhouse Circle of Culpeper United Methodist Church will be having a flea market on Saturday, May 2 in the Culpeper United Methodist Church parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the event of rain, the market will be May 9. Tables will rent for $15 and spaces will rent for $10. All spaces and tables must be paid for in advance.
