Lord Fairfax is to be represented by Susan E. Collins, whose role is that of director of student support services. Her responsibilities include the coordination of all student support areas—admissions and records, counseling, financial aid, learning assistance center, career planning and placement, high school recruitment, and student activities.

Her duties also include the supervision of the college’s FIPSE drug-and-alcohol prevention program, and the college’s gender equity program for single parents, displaced homemakers, and single pregnant women.

James Thomasson, associated for 25 years with Georgetown University, is a long-time resident of Rappahannock County, and together with his wife, Nan, an entrepreneur of great versatility.

He will speak of the special intensive learning program at Georgetown. Educated in Connecticut at Wesleyan and with a master’s and doctorate from Yale, Mr. Thomasson was the first Protestant in the Theology Department at Georgetown and helped to found the Liberal Studies Program there 15 years ago.
