“We really work to break down the barrier between the crowd arid the races,” Chewning said.
This year, ABC News’ Senior General Assignment Correspondent Bettina Gregory will anchor the live show. Jockeys Joe Gillet and Michele Rouse and horsewoman Eve Lloyd Thompson, who have been with the show since its inception, will do live interviews with winning jockeys, owners and trainers as well as the crowd. All-Pro Redskin Hall of Famer and horseman Sam Huff and broadcast journalist Carol Holden also have joined the team.
“This effort is very important because we are taking steeplechasing nationally. Steeplechaing deserves this because it is such as wonderful sport,” said Chewning.
