Joan Hopewell’s Billy King broke his maiden last year at the Saratoga Springs (NY) meeting, following that up with a score in the Charleston Cup. Former Old Dominion Hunt Master of Foxhounds, Hopewell raced the gelding at the Feb. 15 Southern Pines (S.C.) races, where he won in a canter.
Chesterbrook’s Western Run is also entered to run in the Cup. Her first ’92 meet was April 19 when the Jeremy Gillam-trainee raced in the cross-country Alfred M. Hunt race at the Middleburg meeting, placing second.
