Rev. Tom Wiles
Rev. Tommy Wiles has accepted a call to become pastor of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, on U.S. 522 in Scrabble. He has been Mt. Lebanon’s Interim Pastor since Aug. 1992. He is employed by S.W.I.F.T. in Culpeper, which he first joined in 1981.
Rev. Wiles is well known in Culpeper and surrounding area, having served as supply pastor in various churches throughout the Shiloh Baptist Association from 1986 to 1988. He also taught Sunday School at Stevensburg and Open Door Baptist Churches, and served as Interim Pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oak Park, Va. from 1988-’92.
While on active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1974-’81, he was twice recognized as Outstanding Airman of the Year for the Pentagon, and in 1975 was singled out as one of 12 Outstanding Airman of the U.S. Air Force. Upon promotion to NCO, he was twice recognized as Outstanding NCO of the Quarter for the Pentagon. He was awarded the U.S. Air Force Meritorious Service Medal.
Rev. Wiles was bom in Birmingham, Ala., and graduated from Ensley High School as Senior Class President. He majored in Data Processing at Northern Virginia Community College. His two brothers, Emerson-and Dennis, are also Pastors of Southern Baptist Churches.
Rev. Wiles and wife Martha have two children, Carlee, 16 and Jonathan, 12.
