! The first cool night last week after one of the hottest summers on record was a delight - low humidity, a refreshing breeze, very few bugs, and stars so bright that the Milky Way lit up the sky like a beacon. There may be some hot spells ahead, but the back of the heat has been broken.
The summer was not only hot, it was dangerously dry. Farmers are suffering a near drought, and forest fires may be a real danger if rain does not come soon. Now we need the weatherman to send us some rain to go with the cool spell.
