Apparently the underlying point of my letter of several weeks ago was lost on the one person to whom it was directed. It appears that Mr. Powers believes stating the facts to support his side of an argument is not enough and that name calling and character assasination not to mention belittling of higher education on a wholesale basis is the preferred method of proving his point. While sorely tempted to do so, I will refrain from responding to his juvenile taunts and instead state a few facts that he appears to so desperately want to avoid.
First, the only benefit to allowing sludge application in the county will be a financial savings to the few farmers whose property qualifies for such application. There is no “environmental” benefit in that at the present time there is no shortage of properties in other places who are willing to accept sludge on their land.
