This series is being presented by Women’s Health Consultants of Virginia, a group of four local midwives who have been involved in various aspects of women’s health since the 1970’s. Three of the midwives are involved in a program in D.C. which teaches medical students how to perform gynecological and breast examinations from a “woman-centered” perspective.
These workshops being offered through the Women’s Health Awareness Series are very valuable! No one else is offering this kind of information to women in this area. Cervical self examination is an invaluable tool for natural family planning, for monitoring vaginal and cervical conditions and for early diagnosis and treatment of pelvic disease. Breast examinations are our first line of defense in cancer treatment. These workshops are an opportunity to educate women and corret misinformation!

Gynecology and Women’s Self Help from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24.
