LVATo Meet
LVA Rappahannock, the local affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc., will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Rappahannock County Library for its third annual membership meeting. The public is invited. Pat Brummett, The Regional Adult Education Specialist for Planning District 9 will address the group.
Bowen Family Reunion
The annual Bowen reunion will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Rappahannock Park in Washington. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish and a beverage.
Agronomy Field Day
The Virginia Cooperative Extension will be conducting an Agronomy Field Day at the Northern Piedmont Experiment Staion in Orange County from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17. The morning program will include topics concerning “Feeding problems related to drought effected com,” “How you can market your soybeans for 20 cents more per bushel,” “Replacing the lost com crop with barley,” “Utilizing leftover nitrogen for small grain” and “Managing small grain for forage.” The afternoon session will focus on “The management of stockpiled tall fescue” and “Equipment demonstrations for storing late season hay.” In addition, there will be time for participants to look at the other test plots at the station.
If you plan to attend, please call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619 by 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16 so we can make lunch arrangements. Lunch will be free of charge!
Booster Club To Meet
The Rappahannock Athletic Booster Club will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 at the high school. Anyone interested in this club is welcome to join.
