ine doors cover was Gannon’s idea. It is from the center of a large painting “Night Assault” by Dale Gallon. It is a close-up of the Sixth Louisiana in an attack on Cemetery Hill at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. The painting depicts a dramatic scene of the regiment attacking uphill in dusk. After the Louisiana troops captured the hill, reinforcements did not come and so the regiment was forced to fall back.

He said he is pleased with the final production. “You don’t know what it’s going to look like when it’s finished. I think this book has attractive typography and the maps are good, accurate and detailed,”
