FRIEND
Friendships cultivated over the greater portion of a lifetime are among the most valuable of human relationships. Trouble and anxiety seem to fade when we Find ourselves in the company of friends who lavish us with unconditional love and support. Such a loss is not so very different from losing a family member to death. This sentiment is captured by the words of Horace Walpole, "Old friends are the great blessing of one's later years - half a word conveys one's meaning. They have the memory of the same events and have the same mode of thinking...I am lamenting my other self. Half is gone...He is one to whom I ran with every scrap of news I heard."
