Beef cattle meeting set

A Beef Cattle Quality Assurance Twilight Meeting will be held Thursday, July 30 at Fauquier Livestock Exchange in Marshall from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The program, Beef Quality Assurance Exhibit will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a sponsored beef dinner at 7:30 p.m. Please reserve your meal by calling the Rappahannock County Extension Office at 675-3619.

Historical picnic scheduled

The annual Rappahannock Historical Society’s picnic will be held Friday, Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Meadow Green, the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Kiser in Slate Mills. All paid up members and their house guest and potential new members are invited. Dues may be paid at the gate. Bring your favorite dish to share - casserole platter, salad or dessert.

You will need a folding table and chairs, or a blanket to spread on the ground. The Historical Society will provide coffee, iced tea, soft drinks, club soda, plastic dishes, glasses and cutlery. A social time before dinner, bring your own choice of “cheer”.

Health programs planned

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center:

Aug. 12 at 1 p.m., Kay Largent, program on Warning Signs of a Heart Attack.

Aug. 24 at 11:30 a.m. Blood pressure check by Melinda Beach.

Aug. 26 at 1 p.m., Karen Smith, TaiChi (non-impact moves) will involve participation.
