I am reluctant to enter the
current discussion about mobile homes as “family apartments,” because the issue comes in many shades of gray — not black and white. However, having personally worked in opposition to the current state policy during several sessions of the General Assembly, I feel compelled to express my viewpoint.
First and foremost, the issue is not about “affordable housing.” We need “affordable housing” in Rappahannock County. “ManuJfactured housing” may well help to satisfy that need. “Mobile homes” may help to satisfy it — the question being how many , mobile homes in ; Rappahannock wants to tol; erate and under what circumstances. I am glad the t Rappahannock Planning , Commission is addressing ' this question, and I hope it ; can come up with an acceptable, workable answer.
