House to be featured
Historic Long Branch, located off Rt. 50, 10 miles east of Winchester will be the feature house when the popular cable television show “America’s Castles” is repeated at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 on the Arts and Entertainment channel. Appearing with Long Branch are to be Morven Park, Leesburg ana Belle Meade, Nashville, Tenn.
The program will focus on the connection all three public properties have with horses. Long Branch is open 12 noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from April through October and welcomes groups of 10 or more year round with advance notice.
Street festival in Madison
The Madison Chamber of Commerce will sponsor their sixth annual Taste of the Mountain Street Festival on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is a heritage festival that celebrates the Mountain and Traditional cultures of 18th and 19th century America especially as reflected in the cultures and history of the Blue Ridge Mountains region. There will be artist and crafts people demonstrating their wares. There is no admission charge. For information call 948-4455.
