Libby Snead of Washington riding her pony Ad Lib, walked away with the Large Pony English Championship at the 4-H Light Horse and Pony Show in Culpeper on Saturday. In wining her award Libby won four blue ribbons and one second place. Also attending the show was Ann Baumgardner of Washington, riding her pony Colonel Morton, who won first place in Junior Showing and fitting. Janice Aylor of Sperryville won second place in the English Beginners Class while her brother Pete won fifth place in Junior Equitation Hunter. On Aug. 1, the Board of Rappahannock Library held its annual meeting at which Mrs. Elisabeth Johnson of Sperryville was elected chairman. Mrs. Johnson succeeds William Carrigan who has held the position of Chairman of the Board for the past six years. H. Lawrence Manwaring has been appointed by the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District to represent Rappahannock County. Mr. Manwaring owns and operates an 1100 acre farm near Woodville, where he raises Hereford and Charolais cattle.
