Susan Warfield Butler and Victor Donaldson Kane, Jr. were united in marriage on June 12, 1999 at half past eleven o’clock in the morning at the Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison.
The bride is descended from ten of the founding fathers of the church which was built in 1740 and is the oldest Lutheran church in continuous use in the country.
The bride is the daughter Of Ms. Carolyn Warfield Brown Butler of Springfield, and Maurice Lee Butler of Boston. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Warfield Brown of Sperryville and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Richard Butler Sr. of Boston.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Donaldson Kane Sr. of Newport News. He is the grandson of Mrs. Geraldine Shawen Booth and the late Harry Cornelius Shawen, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Robbins Kane, all of Newport News.
The Rev. David Brooks who officiated, was assisted by the Rev. Merlin Shorb Jr. of the Rappahannock Methodist Charge. The 1800 organ was played by Mrs. Sandra Graves of Madison.
