Apple production may be down this year in Virginia orchards, but in Rappahannock County the production is expected to hold about the same as last year. Rappahannock’s Extension Agent Rapley Owings said he expected production this year to about equal last year’s 580,000 bushels. A medical clinic under the direction of Dr. Werner Krebser of Huntly and Dr. Jerry Martin of Flint Hill is scheduled to open this fall. The lot in the Town of Washington has been cleared in preparation for construction and building material is arriving for the project. This is a much needed addition to Rappahannock. Local fruit has begun to appear at the numerous fruit stands and shops in Rappahannock and prospects indicate a good harvest. Mr. and Mrs. George C. Hawkins opened their shop in Sperryville about the first of June this year, but say traffic volume has not completely recovered from the energy crises earlier this
