We did the smart thing and upgraded to seats in the orchestra.
Despite the heat, we thoroughly enjoyed the show. I’m always surprised how easy it is to get to Wolf Trap, and though it’s quite far, the drive is pleasant.
I chatted with Ray Cannon, who mentioned that his daughter Ann Powell came to visit him this past weekend all the way from Lancaster, New Hampshire.
We also talked about the drought and its impact on area ponds. Ray lost two large catfish he had stocked in one of his ponds to help control algae, which he attributes to severely reduced water levels and lowered water quality.
The Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Department will hold its regular monthly business meeting this Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m.
