Johnson and Sharp gave up only two hits, struck out 12 between them and didn’t issue a walk. Sharp and Johnson also collected three of the Lady Panthers’ four hits with freshman Jamie Deal getting the fourth, a hard line drive to center field that sealed the win.

On Friday, March 23 the Varsity traveled to Carlisle, Pa. to participate in a softball exchange and team-building weekend. Arriving on Friday night, the Lady Panthers had a night of social activities and developed new friendships, as both squads participated in team-building activities sponsored by the high school from Carlisle, Pa.

On Saturday morning, the Lady Panthers showed their stuff and played a strong game before the Carlisle fans. Again with strong pitching and solid hitting they were able to capture an 11 to 6 teninning victory and leave Pennsylvania with a bunch of new friends and great memories. It was a good first-week for the softball program and hopefully can generate some positive momentum into the season.

The Junior Varsity Lady Panthers were not to be overshadowed by their bigger listers on the Varsity. They tangled with the other JV Lady Panthers from Page County High School here on Monday, March 19 as well. Behind the solid pitching of Freshmen Laura Kreyling, who went four innings and Freshman Brittany Thornhill, who finished up the last inning, the JV side from RCHS soundly defeated the girls from Page County 10 to 0.

Soccer

There was not much action for the soccer teams last week as they prepared to open this week with nonDistrict action against Stonewall Jackson High School’s boys’ team. The girls’ team managed to squeeze in an early season scrimmage against the girl’s soccer team from Wakefield in the Plains. The game was played on Friday afternoon, March 23 and the Rap side came out on. the losing end of the contest two to zero.
