People started staggering out of the cabin and we found we could stand, holding the railing. Thanks to the ginger, we were among the few people holding the railing for pleasure. The boat still rose and fell and the water was jet black with laces of foam against the blue sky.
Although our eyes still scanned the horizon for any sign of a tail, fin or spout, I think we had all given up hope of a sighting. Our two-hour ride was over.
