Sympathy goes out to the family of Mrs. Blanche Thornhill, one of our former teachers, and wife of Otis R. Thornhill, who passed away at University of Virginia Medical Center on Saturday.

Congratulations to Christopher Barb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barb, here in Boston, who has earned a Masters in Education from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

We’re glad to report that Mrs. Cindy Heflin has returned home from Fauquier Hospital and is improving.

Quite a large crowd filled the Salem Fire and Rescue building on Friday evening for their monthly “Singing and Pickin’1 party and were privileged to hear the country songs, beautiful hymns and the pickin on the musical instruments, with many in attendance from our area. As always the food was delicious, which is served by the department.
