Library expansion

prospects

Library Board members Hallee Morgan and Cheri Woodard both inquired about the possible needs and plans for library expansion. Director Shaffer said that the main drivers for expansion were the increasing memberships and visits, and the need for more shelf space for the growing collection. Mr. McCarthy said that he would remind architect Dwight Matthews of his earlier offer to look at expansion options, and Board President Charlotte Nichols directed the Building and Grounds Committee to begin to investigate expansion options.

During the public comments portion of the meeting, Rappahannock Bazaar Executive Director Jerry Ochs offered the organization’s Sperryville location as a possible interim satellite location for some library services.
