align lij siiiaiiei til ci ii a sparrow. They have a short, cone-shaped beak and notched tail. In the spring and summer, the breeding male is bright yellow with black wings, cap and tail and has a narrow white bar on their wings.
Breeding females are mostly yellow and are brightest on the throat and breast. Females have dusky wings and two white wing bars. Females are less striking in color but are still pretty birds. In winter, both males and females loose some of their magnificent colors.
Goldfinches live in mixed flocks, they are easily identified as they fly across open spaces by their trademark rising and falling type flight.
