Lions Club plan auction

The Rappahannock Lions Club will hold their annual auction on Saturday, May 12 at 6 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. If you have items to donate, please call Henry B. Wood at 987-3301 or Joel Daczewitz at 987-8395. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

Support group offered

Hospice of the Rapidan offers free bereavement support groups to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. The group now forming will meet on Monday evenings, beginning April 9 through May 14 at 5 p.m. in the Hospice of the Rapidan Community Room. Pre-registration is requested.

Call Lora Bailey, Bereavement Coordinator, at Hospice of the Rapidan for more information or to register for the group. Office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday, 825-4840.

Playgroup meets on Friday

Children and parents are invited to the Rappahannock Park for a Friday morning playgroup at 10 am, each week, weather permitting. For additional information call Kathy at 937-5681.

Tasting room now open

Sharp Rock Vineyard’s Tasting Room has reopened for the season. Hours are Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and also by appointment, 9879700.

Tennis clinic offered

Local resident and tennis professional Hunt Harris will be offering a free tennis clinic on Saturday, April 7 at the Rappahannock County Park off US 211 in Washington, Virginia.

This a warm-up clinic to help “get the rust off for those possibly interested in re-acquainting themselves with their racquets or possibly start the sport anew.

Sessions on the 7th will take place as follows: Beginner Juniors, 9-9:45 a.m.; Beginner Adults, 10-10:45 a.m.; Intermediate Adults and Juniors, 11-11:45 a.m.; Advanced Adults and Juniors, 12:30-1:30 p.m. M

Interested participants should bring: comfortable attire; tennis shoes; a racquet for themselves (there may be a limited number available as loaners); a good attitude and good behavior.
