Rappahannock.

For the first time, the census includes 80 persons who claimed to be “Two or more races,” which affects the totals.

The 1990 census counted 6,095 whites, 491 AfricanAmericans, 67 Hispanics (of any race), 14 Asians, 10 American Indians, and 12 “Other” races.

The number of young people in Rappahannock has changed only slightly over the past decade.

The 2000 census reports that there were 1,559 residents living in Rappahannock under age 18 (22.3 percent), and 5,424 (77.7 percent) 18 or older.

The numbers for 1990 were 1,520 under 18 years (22.9 percent) and 5,102 age 18 and over (77.1 percent).
