Cooter’s Place, the popular “Dukes of Hazzard” theme store in Sperryville, will reopen Sunday, April 1 for its third season of “music and fun.”
Ben (Cooter) Jones and his wife Alma Viator are especially excited about this year since they recently purchased the store property and have been busy doing some renovations and remodeling.
“We don’t want to gussy it up too much,” says Jones. “We want to keep the laid back attitude while fixing up and making our displays nicer. We have both been amazed at how much the place has grown in two years. And we both want to continue that growth over the years.”
This year, as in the past, Cooter’s will feature country and bluegrass music on Saturday and Sundays. “We’ll be open every day of the week from April Fool’s Day to Christmas Eve, but the weekends will be extra special,” according to “Cooter”.
“When Cooter’s Garage Band isn’t touring, we’ll play on Saturdays. And of course we’re going to continue to have the best in Virginia bluegrass every Sunday afternoon.” Concerts will be from 1 to 4 p.m. both days.
“Five of a Kind”, a well known bluegrass band from Strasburg, will provide the entertainment on April Fool’s Day.
Food will continue to be a feature at Cooter’s, too. “This year,” says Alma, “the gang from Burgers N’ Things in Sperryville is going to
