review it. Information gathered by water quality monitoring programs in Virginia is currently available through the EPA’s web site, but is sometimes cumbersome for the average citizen to access.

In addition to improving knowledge of the water quality of the Upper Rappahannock the project intends to engage citizens and groups of the region in the process of collecting the data. Training will be provided to those who wish to participate. Hopefully, becoming directly involved in the process of monitoring the water quality of nearby streams will help people to better understand the connection between land use and water quality.
