When we meet someone, we never really know the effect they will have on our lives or the effect we will have on theirs. I believe that God brings certain people into our lives for a reason. Some are here for a season, others are here for a lifetime. We never know which it will be.
Fd like to share a story with you about a relationship that has lasted a lifetime, adding much joy and pleasure to our lives.
In 1974, our family decided, after some discussion and serious thought, to host a child from the Fresh Air Fund. The Fresh Air Fund is a non-profit organization that provides a free twoweek summer vacation for children ages five to 18 from New York City. They can enjoy fresh country air experiencing the freedom of playing outdoors beyond the city streets.
Currently the Fresh Air Fund sends more than 7,000 children annually to rural and suburban areas across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada. Usually, a family hosts one child.
We were asked to accept a brother and sister so that they would not be separated. Their mother, JoAnn, had once been a Fresh Air Child. She wanted her children to experience the same pleasures she had enjoyed.
We eagerly awaited the day in July 24, 1974 when Michael and Michelle Brancazio (age five and six) walked off the bus, in Winchester, after an eight hour trip. The first visit was filled with new and exciting experiences for all of us. It didn’t take long to get to know one another and establish a strong, loving bond. It has been a delightful experience, one that I wouldn’t trade in for anything.
