Three hundred and seventeen children exited Taylor Middle School one afternoon last June. The kids, from age 4 to rising eighth graders, wore balloon hats, carried colorful paper fish and demonstrated the new dance steps they had learned as they traipsed down the entrance steps. Several chattered about basketball games, karate moves and how to make pink slime and palindromes.
It was the first day of Super Summer Seminars.
The program, orchestrated by Parent Advocates of Gifted Education, features a week of educational (and just plain fun) classes. Volunteer teachers provide the raw materials and the kids generate the fun.
Nature, sports, drama, cooking, dancing, music and art are topics included in the week-long adventure, which this year will begin June 25 and continue to June 29. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Taylor
