Acceptance

In the final stage of the grieving process, acceptance, hope seems to subtly reinstate itself in the life of the grieving individual. The good days begin to outnumber the bad. While there may be some sense of guilt that accompanies the good feeling, there is also an encouraging feeling that things are starting to look better. As life returns to normal, decisions come easier and the natural rhythms of life return. It is once again possible to smile and enjoy life. The dearly departed will always be missed. Holidays may trigger wishes and longings, but there w ill also be a sense of deep appreciation in which a loved one can be recalled with happiness and a sense of peace. Grief is an odd process because it is so filled with contradictions. Try to allow yourself to feel whatever you feel and let the process unfold. Only in this way can the healing from the loss complete itself and your well-being return.
