Esther and Franklin Schmidt’s portrait of Jazz singer, Tbny Bennett, is featured on the cover of the April issue of Art & Antiques Magazine.
The Schmidts, residents of Woodville in Rappahannock County, photographed and wrote the feature article for this monthly magazine that has just under one million readers. Included are pictures of Bennett’s New York apartment and a story focusing on Bennett’s achievements as a painter and performer.
The Schmidts both say that working with Bennett was a real joy and describe the assignment as one of the highlights in their professional lives.
The Schmidts, who write and photograph for art and interior design magazines, travel throughout the US on assignment. However, they have also been working locally. A recent shoot and story about The Conyers House Bed and Breakfast in Sperryville will appear in an upcoming issue of Romantic Homes Magazine.
Esther and Franklin Schmidt have resided full time in Rappahannock County since 1979. They work with national magazines as well as advertising agencies, public relations firms, architects, hotels and restaurants.
This month their work is also featured on the covers of Country Accents magazine (for whom they also write a regular column on antiques) and Victorian Homes Magazine.
Their photography appears on the cover and interior pages of a book on timber frame houses recently produced by Gibb Smith Publishing, and is also included in an anthology by Barnes & Noble Publishing. They recently completed photographing a cookbook, shot on location in Minnesota.
Having traveled extensively for a number of years, the Schmidts are looking forward to doing more work in this
