President Settle and new Treasurer of the club, Mike Leake had been outstanding athletes when they attended Rappahannock County High School (not so many years ago).
A majority of county Supervisors was present, Pete Estes and Lions Roger Welch and Robert Anderson.
Anderson was one of the team of Lions who personally contributed so many man hours of old fashioned hard physical work, as did Bob Metcalf, Gary Settle, Bruce Jones, Joel Daczewitz and others as their time permitted.
County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Gangel expressed official appreciation to the Lions, as did Jon Smythe, the very dedicated Athletic Director.
