An error on his part, he said, resulted in the fabrication of new Water tanks for the elementary school that did not have required access doors. The tanks were returned to the fabricator and should be redelivered in “several weeks,” but installation and testing may have to be delayed until October when a three day weekend will provide adequate time for those tasks.

Mr. McCarthy also said that the new gymnasium floor was not installed at RCES due to the contractor’s lack of time, and that the floor may also be installed over the October three day weekend. • ■

Other activities

• The Board discussed the new performance conj tract for the RappahannockRapidan Community' Services Board (RRCSB). Supervisor Ron Frazier sard that information requested on RRCSB costs had not yet been received and he suggested that it may be appropriate to delay a decij sion on the contract untih that information has been provided.

Supervisor Roger Welch however said that he thought that “the money is well spent” and he moved to approve the contract, was’ seconded by Supervisor Bob Anderson, and passed by the Board, subject to the annual receipt of expertdlture analyses.

• The Board agreed to engage in a “Revenue Maximization” program with' the Virginia Department 6f Social Services (VDSS) whereby the County will receive direct Federal in lieu of State funding for social service-related programs.

• Phil Irwin was appointed Rappahannock County’s tourism representative, formalizing a role he has played informally for some time.

• During the public comments portion of the meeting, Jeff Light of Woodville invited Board members and the public to the Woodville Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29. He also thanked the Sheriff’s Office for its observation of traffic speed in the Town, where the speed limit has recently been reduced to 35 mph.

• Alan Zuschlag and Supervisor Bryant Lee were appointed to the Regional Agriculture Development Committee of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Planning Commission.
