Two gubernatorial candidates
sought the endorsement of the Virginia Education Association (VEA) this year. In 1991. Mr. Earley was endorsed by the VEA in his campaign for the Virginia Senate. This year, however, there was a better candidate, and the VEA has endorsed Mark Warner for Governor.
Both candidates filled out questionnaires and participated in interviews, and according to the VEA, the two candidates agreed on many issues. In one of last week's letters to the editor. Mark Earley’s position on the SOLs was mentioned as a reason to support him. His position on the SOLs was one of the reasons the VEA chose not to endorse him.
