Stephen A. “Cotton” Dodson Jr., 72, formerly of Winchester died Monday, Sept. 3 at VA Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Stephens City by the Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth.
Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery at Stephens City with military honors by VFW Post 2168.
Mr. Dodson was bom Oct. 17, 1928 in Washington, Va., son of the late Stephen Ashby and Pauline Elliott Dodson.
He retired after 39 years as a machine operator for Avtex.
He was an U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the husband of the late Helen Carter Dodson.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Ann Foreman of Stephens City; one son, Stephen A. Dodson of Winchester; a stepson, William Carter of Winchester; one brother, Bill C. Dodson of Stephens City; three sisters, Catherine Emmons, Maxie Jenkins and Mildred Lofton, all of Stephens City; two grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
