The new Sprint PCS application
will be discussed at a public hearing before the Planning Commission next Wednesday, Sept. 19, 11 months to the day after the first application was scheduled to be heard.
I liked Newbill Miller’s letter to the editor about the first application, and I believe it applies to this one as well: Just say no.
The applicant has not demonstrated a commitment to serve this county. All seven facilities are located along major highways, as in the first application, and will not bring cell service to those who live up in the hollows and other nooks and crannies in the county.
Sprint doesn’t want to be our neighbor - they’re just passing through. While the visual impact of the facilities proposed in this application would be far less than the seven naked towers proposed in the first, this represents an industrial use-inappropriate in my view— of our agricultural land and wooded slopes.
Note three additional points:
