By the reverend’s reasoning, it is understandable that bigots would wave the Cross, because it had always been appropriated for say, inquisitions, holy wars, pogroms, burning of heretics, etc. But he says the flag was always “about something evil from jump street” because slaves lived under it. He didn’t mention the American flag.
