such as Red Giant or Osaka Purple. Again, the trick with mustards is to harvest the leaves on the smaller side. An easy way to judge correct harvesting size is to feel the leaves — if they feel rough and tough, they will be!
Salad greens are my specialty: I grow lots of lettuces, arugula, cutting chicories, mache, cress and other unusual leaves, lb grow good salad greens, you’ll need rich soil as they are heavy feeders and must remain in a vigorous growth pattern to produce succulent, non-bitter leaves. This is one of the places in your garden to refrain from stinginess with compost or water. Every two weeks is about right for side-dressing with compost or fertilizing with a dilute liquid seaweed or fish emulsion.
