2) The technology Sprint is proposing to install here will be obsolete before long - probably within five years, but almost certainly within the projected life span of these facilities.

3) The Telecommunications Act of 1996, which cell-service companies and their lawyers have been invoking as their right of passage, has been challenged in court on constitutional grounds. Until such a challenge is heard and decided by the Supreme Court, the constitutionality of the Act remains in doubt.

Personally, I’d rather have Rappahannock County become known as one of the remaining places in the country where you can’t rely on a cell phone. I can imagine highway signs welcoming our visitors:
