The fledgling golf team continued to improve this past week and added a new player to the squad for competition. After losing to Strasburg by a handful of strokes on Thursday, Aug. 30 the firstyear team got an opportunity to host a competition at the RCHS “home” course — Kastle Greens Golf Course in Midlands (Fauquier County).

Junior Robyn Pivarnik competed in her first match, earning that spot during this past week’s practices. Her nine-hole score of 55 was last on her team, but good enough to preserve a Panther victory over the Luray squad 202 to 207.

These numbers reflect the total strokes made by a team’s top four golfers for the match. Other scores that day for the Rapp side were junior Michael Fairbrother - 46; junior Ralph Pace - 48; sophomore Brian Taylor - 53 and sophomore Tyler Hartman also with a 55.

The win is the second nondistrict victory for the firstyear team and hopefully, puts our squad on the path to earning some success against their Bull Run District opponents.
