xi congress warns to let people bum the flag as an exercise of free speech, they have the Constitutional right to do so in accordance with their ability to stand for reelection by the people they represent. However, when the U.S. Supreme Court oversteps its bounds and says that burning the flag is protected speech, they do so without concern for the will of the people because they do not stand for election.
Mr. Jones’ recent pronouncements on the Constitution were merely the straw that broke the camel’s back. I cannot remain silent when our very fabric of government is being tom apart by the “legal elite.”
It is not my intent or desire to attack Mr. Jones personally. I purposefully limited my comments to the Constitutional issues because that is my cause for concern and alarm with what is happening in our country.
Further, I did not have Mr. Jones in mind when I referred to “closed” thinking. I was referring instead to the practice of “blind” partisan politics as practiced in Washington today that has infected our government intolerably. I apologize if I missed the “point” of Mr. Jones’ article, and I certainly did not intend to make Mr. Jones the “point” of my article. I am sorry he took it that way. I am also sorry that he does not get my “point” about the dangers of judicial overreaching. I only hope that others will.
