candidates. Mayor Willis closed the public hearing and discussed his perceived need for the position, as well as some of the individuals who have considered the post.
He noted that Council member Reinhardt Lynch, who was stranded in Europe at the time of the meeting, had sent a letter in which he recommended Charlie Tbmpkins for the position, but Mayor Willis recommended and nominated Alice Butler, who was also absent, and the Council voted 3 to 1 for her election.
Town Attorney John Bennett advised the Council that Mrs. Butler would have to resign her Council position, after which the Council vacancy will need to be advertised. The Council moved and approved to do so, subject to Mrs. Butler’s acceptance of the Town Treasurer position and the resignation of her Council seat.
Kramer Special
Use Permit
Peter Kramer attended the meeting, as requested by the Ibwn Council, to explain his allowing his Special Use Permit to expire without having completed the required work. Mr. Kramer initiated his explanation by noting that he did not know he “only had a year” (to complete the work).
