There are other traffic implications. Massive development at Clevenger’s Corner may affect the response times of some of Rappahannock County emergency services equipment. Getting an ambulance to the Fauquier Hospital may take longer. Rappahannock County commuters may be joining a “rolling” rush hour.
If headed for Northern Virginia and leaving early at 5:30 a.m. or 6 a.m., Clevenger’s Comer commuters doing the same thing will join them. Coming home, they will be in the thick of things again. There will be more trucks on the road, the number depending on the nature of the commercial and light industrial development at Clevenger’s Comer.
Trash from 9,000-11,000 people in the area may be trucked across Rappahannock County, on its way to a giant landfill in Page County. There will increased air pollution. There will be noise pollution. A rural environment will slowly shift to a suburban environment.
Finally, there is the new traffic phenomenon of driver distraction, an increasing cause of accidents. Vehicles have become extensions of the home and office.
