. By the Year 2010. Rappahannock County residents traveling to and from Warren ton on US 211 wall find traffic intense. That is, if proposed development at Clevenger’s Comer in Culpeper Coupty is approved. Anyone driving on Route 29 near Gainesville today will have a preview of what driving on Lee Highway will be like in the future.
Those traveling Route 229 at Clevenger’s Comer will find themselves on a four-lane stretch of highw ay. Lights at the Route 211/229 intersection, and probably Route 621, will take care of traffic control and safety. Pedestrians or bicyclists crossing the roads? They’ll get from ope side to the other as people do in cities. Lights change; traffic halts.
-Any major development, suqh as that proposed for Clevenger’s Comer in Culpeper County, cause increased traffic. It comes from more homes being built in the area. It comes from commercial, light industrial, and public facilities being developed in the area.
Information used in this article comes from the two proposed plans for Clevenger’s Comer, that of Culpeper County’s “Village Plan” proposal, and the Centex rezoning proposal. It attempts to estimate the impact of traffic increases on travelers to and from Rappahannock County. The proposed plans for Clevenger’s Comer may be scaled back, but for now we go with what is known and what could be approved.
