Coming to grips with the day that
changed our lives forever
It’s been eight days since the world as we know it
changed forever. Here in the shadow of the
nation’s capital, fear and pain mix with grief and disbelief. We are shattered, but determined to increase security for the nation and ourselves.
We seek peace of mind, reaching out to those we love, to our neighbors and to our business associates. We are looking for ties that bind, and we try not to fear the things that divide us — different heritages, different faiths, different ethnicities.
Commercial jets commandeered by terrorists have shaken our humanity and breached our sense of safetjy.
! Some seek revenge, all seek justice. Across Rappahannock County, we hear concern. We hear grief. We hear resolve, and we hear support for President Bush and other leaders.
President Bush has promised a war on terrorism. That will be his to plan and his to wage and ours to support. He has also promised justice. That, too, will be his to render and ours to support.
From last Thursday evening to Sunday local churches were open and many attended, many asked why and sought direction. The following prayer is one of remembrance.
