Seventeen youth and four adults gathered this summer at the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville to leave for a mission trip sponsored by the Shiloh Baptist Association and two local churches, F.T. Baptist and Reynolds. The destination was the Wherry Housing Project, an abandoned neighborhood that is being reclaimed by Christian volunteers to provide affordable housing in Smryna, Tenn.
'The 21 people, complete with luggage, loaded into a small, white church bus and a Dodge Durango. After driving all day they stayed oYetnight in a campground in Bristol, Tenn. and the next day arrived at their destination, the mission house in . the neighborhood where they would be working. ' The next four days were spent doing work of various kinds. Some people painted and did electrical work, while others mowed lawns. A small group led Vacation Bible School for the children of the neighborhood. Each pferson chose the type of work they wanted to do and worked hard to accomplish as much as possible in the tirrte they were there.
