Resolution on the tragic events of Sept. 11, proclaimed by the Mayor of Washington, Virginia as authorized by the Washington Ibwn Council on Sept. 12, 2001
Resolved,
That the representatives of the Tbwn of Washington, “the first Washington,” assembled in regular session of the Council on Sept. 12,2001, the day following the most tragic and nefarious terrorist attack in our nations’s history, convey from the Tbwn of Washington, the county seat of Rappahannock County, to our leaders at the country’s seat of government in Washington, D.C., and to our fellow citizens everywhere, these resolves:
1. We mourn solemnly for the countless victims, civilian and military, killed in yesterday’s terrorist attacks, at the City of New York, the town of Shanksville, Pa., and County of Arlington, Va., site of the Pentagon.
2. We send our most heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and friends, left so tragically and suddenly bereaved by yesterday’s events.
3. We earnestly hope and pray for the recovery of the wounded from the injuries they have suffered in these terrorist attacks.
4. Finally, and of utmost importance, we support and join in the pledge of the President of the United States of America: that this nation will bring to justice both the perpetrators of the horrendous terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 and all those persons, states, organizations and other entities who are guilty of harboring the terrorists, supporting or protecting them-to the end that terrorist attacks can never again threaten our nation and the world we live in.
